Four Corners Movement
PURPOSES/OBJECTIVE: Warm-up; Fitness; and Locomotor skills
EQUIPMENT: Four cones and music
FORMATION: A square with a cone in each comer with students spread out along the square.
DESCRIPTION: Students travel along the square as the music
is playing. At each corner, they must change their locomotor
movement For example, on one side students skip; on the next
side, students jog, on the third side, students gallop; and on the
final side, students walk. Students may pass on the outside if
they are going faster than their peers.
VARIATIONS: Change locomotor skills or the quality of movement (i.e., high, low, soft, heavy, fast, slow); Use sport agility movements (i.e., grapevine step, backwards running; pivots; high knees).
